DeSmith underwent successful core muscle surgery Friday morning, according to the Penguins.
The surgery was performed by Dr. William Meyers of the Vincera Institute in Philadelphia.
There is still no update on when Tristan Jarry, the Penguins starting goaltender, may return to the lineup.
Coach Sullivan has announced that Casey DeSmith had successful core muscle surgery this morning. He will be unavailable for the remainder of the playoffs.
