Paul Mullin: Wrexham striker wants promotion over personal 100-goal milestone

Striker Paul Mullin says he is not concerned about reaching 100 goals for Wrexham this season as long as the team win promotion.

Mullin, 29, is three goals shy of reaching a century for Wrexham after scoring in the 3-1 win at Grimsby Town.

The Dragons are third in League Two, three points behind leaders Mansfield Town, who they host on Good Friday.

"If I didn't score another goal and we went up then my job's done," Mullin said.

"It will be a great achievement, but it's not something I really think about.

"It will be lovely to get there as quickly as possible, but equally if I don't get there at all but we keep winning every week then I'll be happy."

Wrexham's win at Blundell Park came after they failed to win in their previous two home games - a goalless draw against Harrogate Town and a 1-0 loss to Tranmere.

Phil Parkinson's side have seven games remaining, starting with a home game against leaders Mansfield on Friday.

"They're a brilliant side and have been brilliant all season," Mullin added.

"It's up to us to go and give a really good account of ourselves and hopefully go and win the game.

"If we win every game we'll be promoted. It's not going to be simple as that, it's going to be a really tough challenge.

"Everyone's going to be up for the fight in our changing room and in other changing rooms also.

"It's going to be a really exciting end to the season.

"But I don't worry about the other teams - we concentrate on ourselves."

Manager Parkinson has previously said Wrexham must 'enjoy' the pressure of the League Two title race.

Mullin, who joined from Cambridge United in the summer of 2021, does not feel the heavy burden of expectation.

"Sometimes it does feel like it's a lot of pressure on me to deliver," Mullin said.

"But also I put that pressure on myself.

"I think that's where I thrive, being under pressure. I really enjoy being in those situations where you overcome them.

"It's something that I embrace and something that I love doing.

"If you haven't got pressure in your job then you're not doing the right job."
