Patriots vs. Chargers Week 8 inactives: Ekeler, Stevenson to play originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

The New England Patriots will have a little different look at running back for Sunday's Week 8 game against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium.

J.J. Taylor is inactive, which means rookie Rhamondre Stevenson is expected to play a larger role in the offense. Stevenson last played in Week 6 when the Patriots lost to the Dallas Cowboys in overtime. The former University of Oklahoma star ran for 23 yards and a touchdown, along with three receptions for 39 yards versus the Cowboys.

Curran: Why Patriots should be trade deadline buyers this year

Veteran linebacker Dont'a Hightower is active after missing last week's 54-13 win over the New York Jets.

There are no surprise inactives for the Patriots.

Chargers running back Austin Ekeler was the biggest question mark heading into this matchup because of a hip injury, but he will play for L.A. It was clear Ekeler would suit up when he posted his fantasy football lineup to social media and it included him starting.

Here are the official inactive lists for the Patriots and Chargers. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET.
