Patriots shock Jets as Marcus Jones returns punt for TD with 5 seconds left
The New England Patriots and New York Jets were in a titanic defensive struggle Sunday at Foxborough.
All that separated the teams from overtime was the 17th punt of the game, and none had been returned for a touchdown in the NFL to that point.
Marcus Jones took the Jets’ kick on the New England 16 and was off and running.
Eighty-four yards later, the rookie from the University of Houston was in the end zone and New England had a 10-3 victory in an AFC East battle.

Jones had 6 kickoff returns for touchdowns in college during his time at Troy and Houston. Jones also had 3 punt returns for scores as a Cougar.
The victory was New England’s 14th in a row over the Jets.
It also meant the Jets dropped to last in the AFC East. New York and New England are 6-4 but the Patriots hold the tiebreaker by virtue of sweeping the season series.
