April 16, 2000, will go down as the most important day in the history of the New England Patriots.

That's when the franchise selected Michigan quarterback Tom Brady with the 199th pick in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft.

Six quarterbacks were taken ahead of Brady in the 2000 draft. Here's the list:

Chad Pennington, 18th overall, New York Jets
Giovanni Carmazzi, 65th overall, San Francisco 49ers
Chris Redman, 75th overall, Baltimore Ravens
Tee Martin, 163rd overall, Pittsburgh Steelers
Marc Bulger, 168th overall, New Orleans Saints
Spergon Wynn, 183rd overall, Cleveland Browns

Here's a look at the live ESPN draft broadcast from 2000 where Mel Kiper Jr. talks about Brady's skill set and fit in New England.

Brady, after winning Super Bowl LIII against the Los Angeles Rams last month, now has a championship ring for each of the six quarterbacks drafted before him. It brings a new meaning to the term "Brady 6."

Brady will return for the 2019 season, when the Patriots will try to become the first team ever to win seven Super Bowl titles. The Patriots also can become the first repeat Super Bowl winner since Brady and Co. accomplished the feat in 2003 and 2004.
