Patrick Mahomes marries high school sweetheart Brittany Matthews in Hawaii

Say hello to Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Mahomes.

Mahomes, the star Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, married his longtime girlfriend, Brittany Matthews, in a ceremony in Hawaii on Saturday.

Mahomes and Matthews have been together since they were high school classmates at Whitehouse High School in Texas. Matthews is a fitness instructor who co-founded Kansas City’s NWSL franchise, the Kansas City Current.

The couple have a 1-year-old daughter named Sterling, who was born in February 2021.

Jackson Mahomes, Patrick’s younger brother, was best man and Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce was among the former NFL MVP’s groomsmen.

Mahomes proposed to Matthews on Sept. 1, 2020, the day the Chiefs received their Super Bowl rings.

“On a day that was meant to celebrate you, you turned it into celebrating us. It’s always us, it’s always you and me,” Matthews wrote following their engagement. “The words you looked into my eyes and said to me at this moment, will NEVER leave my mind! You made this day perfect, you took my entire breath away and I could not have imagined anything better.

Mahomes, 26, has been with the Chiefs for five seasons after the franchise selected him in the first round in 2017 NFL draft. The Chiefs won the Super Bowl in his third season but fell short the past two seasons. Last season, the Chiefs lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC championship game. In 2020, they fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Bowl.
