Patrick Mahomes hypes Kopech as 'monster' on Twitter originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Michael Kopech has a pretty high-profile fan from the NFL. In the middle of Kopech’s 10-strikeout outing on Sunday, Mahomes sent this complimentary tweet:

Mahomes is a beast himself, so he certainly recognizes another beast when he sees one. It’s nice that he offered an olive branch as a Kansas City guy too.

Kopech and Mahomes have a relationship as they grew up near each other in Texas and even use the same personal trainer.

Mahomes also could’ve been a beast pitcher in his own right. He was drafted by the Tigers as a right-handed pitcher in the 2014 MLB draft. But obviously Mahomes opted not to sign with Detroit and went to play football at Texas Tech, and a Super Bowl Championship with Kansas City.
