The 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship in Buffalo will feature a very unique opening round game between the United States and Canada. The two rivals will meet for the first time since the U.S. won gold against their northern neighbors on Dec. 29 at New Era Field, home of the NFL’s Buffalo Bills.

For the special occasion, the Americans will wear a commemorative jersey, one that features large numbers like you’d find on an NFL jersey and a color scheme similar to that of what the Bills wear every week.

“This jersey will be worn just once for a very historic occasion,” said USA Hockey assistant executive director of marketing, communications and events Mike Bertsch in a statement. “We’re obviously excited to host the first-ever outdoor game played in the World Juniors and this jersey will help add to the overall significance and fanfare of the game.”

So, uh, what is it about really bad jerseys and the city of Buffalo? First, it’s the Turd Burgers and now some sort of Buffalo Bills hockey jersey? Sure, the game is in a football stadium but USA Hockey would have been better off picking from any of the vintage looks they’ve used over the years, as our good pal Chris Peters documented in 2013.

So what do you think? Would you buy one?
