Panthers WR Robbie Anderson contemplating retirement?

After the dismal season Carolina Panthers wideout Robbie Anderson had in 2021, you’d assume he’d be itching to get back on the field as soon as possible. But, uh, he may not have an itch at all.

On Saturday, the 29-year-old posted an eyebrow-raising tweet—perhaps about his future in the game of football. And although Anderson is known to hit the app quite a bit (and is certainly no stranger to the occasional cryptic message or two), we may have to wonder if this is it for him . . .

Anderson is fresh off the worst campaign of his six-year career. He posted lows in receiving yards (519), yards per reception (9.8) and catch rate (48.2 percent) after signing a two-year extension last summer.

Besides his age, this is particularly curious given the remainder of that lucrative contract as well as his recent change in uniform number. But an athlete—especially in this sport—can certainly change course about their path.
