Panthers likely to sign ‘a couple’ of tryout players from rookie minicamp
The Carolina Panthers have done quite a bit of (collaborative) work on their roster this offseason. Nonetheless, there still are a few spots that are available to be filled.
On Saturday, following the team’s second installment of rookie minicamp, head coach Frank Reich told reporters they may fill those spots with some of this weekend’s tryout players.
Panthers HC Frank Reich after rookie minicamp: Good to finish up. Guys were locked in and focused. Says they'll probably end up signing "a couple" of the tryout guys.

As of now, the Panthers have 84 players under contract. With the offseason roster limit at 90, Reich and general manager Scott Fitterer have six spots to play with.
And if they so choose to pluck talent off the practice field, here’s the pool they can take from:
No. | Player | College | Status |
5 | QB Taylor Powell | Eastern Michigan | Tryout |
16 | North Carolina | Tryout
18 | WR Gary Jennings | West Virginia | Tryout |
19 | WR Emeka Emezie | North Carolina State | Tryout |
20 | DB Montrae Braswell | Missouri State | Tryout |
24 | DB J.R. Reed | Georgia | Tryout |
43 | LB Marquise Blount | The Citadel | Tryout |
48 | LB Travez Moore | Arizona State | Tryout |
54 | LB Gavin Greene | Mississippi College | Tryout |
55 | LB Ace Eley | Georgia Tech | Tryout |
56 | LB Jordan Williams | Baylor | Tryout |
60 | OL Derrick Kelly | Florida State | Tryout |
64 | Arizona State | Tryout
84 | TE Nakia Griffen-Stewart | Tryout
93 | DL Zi’Yon Hill-Green | Louisiana | Tryout |
98 | DL Antwuan Jackson | Ohio State | Tryout |

Deals could begin to unfold after the weekend, when rookie minicamp officially wraps up.
