Palestine Wildcats name James Reyes athletic director

Feb. 16—The Palestine School Board hired James Reyes as its new athletic director and head football coach Thursday.

Reyes has spent the last three seasons as the athletic director and head football coach at Lumberton, going 25-11 in his three seasons with the Raiders. The Raiders, under the guidance of Coach Reyes, defeated Palestine in the playoffs in 2022 by a score of 54-29.

An East Texas product, Coach Reyes was born in Nacogdoches and graduated from Marshall High School in 1996. He then attended Dallas Baptist University on a baseball scholarship, before graduating from Stephen F Austin State University in 2001.

Before accepting his first AD role with Lumberton in 2021, Reyes had previously served as an offensive coordinator at Nacogdoches, Midlothian, McKinney, Justin Northwest and Center.

Reyes and his wife of more than 17 years, Shelli, have two children; Allie and Ethan. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, as well as fishing and playing golf.
