Packers back in top-5 of USA TODAY NFL power rankings

The Green Bay Packers are finally back in the top five of the USA TODAY NFL power rankings.

Matt LaFleur’s team moved up in the rankings for the fifth straight week and now sits at No. 5 entering Week 8, marking the first time the Packers have been in the top five since the start of the season.

The Packers cruised past the Washington Football Team on Sunday at Lambeau Field, securing a sixth-straight win after starting 0-1. Green Bay is one of only four teams with at least six wins after seven weeks.

Up next is the unbeaten Arizona Cardinals, the No. 1 team in the rankings. The Thursday night showdown will be the biggest test of the season for LaFleur’s team, especially if Davante Adams (COVID-19 reserve list) doesn’t play.

Can the Packers get a signature win – and maybe the best win of the 2021 NFL season – on Thursday night in Arizona?

The Packers might have five wins over teams ranked 16th or lower, but the overtime win over the Cincinnati Bengals – now the No. 8 team – looks better and better each week.

And here’s one last interesting thing about the rankings: the entire top five is from the NFC. The Cardinals, Rams, Buccaneers and Cowboys sit above the Packers.
