Pablo Sandoval admitted his game-winning home run Friday night against the San Diego Padres wasn't the most impressive feat at Petco Park.

Sandoval's dinger was the difference on the scoreboard in the Giants' 2-1 win over their division rivals, but the San Francisco fan who caught the ball one-upped the home-run hitter. That fan, Chris Rice, made a one-handed catch while his baby was sleeping and Sandoval gave him props on Instagram.

Rice asked if Sandoval would sign the ball -- after offering to give it back -- and the Giants utility man said he'd take him up on it.

It's hard to argue with Sandoval's assessment that the catch was the "play of the day." Sure, Kevin Pillar had an impressive over-the-shoulder grab, and Sandoval's game-winning homer would qualify on any other night considering the results of the weekend series in San Diego reportedly will influence the Giants' trade-deadline strategy.

But hanging on to your baby and catching a home-run ball? That's astounding stuff.

Holding on to the baby is listed first, of course, because anybody reading this should absolutely not attempt to repeat the feat with a small child the next time they're sitting in the outfield bleachers. Once is more than enough, considering the risks.

That being said, Rice's wife never doubted him. KFMB-TV news anchor and reporter Neda Iranpour and Rice had their child this year, and she tweeted Saturday that she knew he had sure hands.

Sandoval is set to meet Rice and his family on the field Saturday in San Diego.
