In recent years, safe-to-binge cookie dough has gained popularity as its own dessert category, but one woman-owned brand, P.S. Snacks, is on a journey to make it healthier.
P.S. Snacks specializes in raw, safe-to-eat cookie dough with whole, plant-based ingredients — namely, chickpeas. (Yes, it sounds interesting, but it’s delicious.) The vegan cookie dough is gluten-free, egg-free and soy-free and comes in three flavors: chocolate chip, fudge brownie and peanut butter.

The edible cookie dough sold in individual serving sizes, like a yogurt or pudding cup. Each container is only 290 calories, packs in eight to nine grams of protein and contains tons of heart-healthy fats.

According to P.S. Snacks’ website, it all started when the founder, Nikki Azzara, was in college. She discovered she was gluten-intolerant, and realized that there weren’t many desserts out there that she could eat. That motivated her to start her own food blog, Slender Seven, which featured seven-ingredient recipes for her favorite treats. After graduating, Azzara launched P.S. Snacks, starting with her favorite Slender Seven recipe, the chocolate chip cookie dough.
You can find P.S. Snacks cookie dough at select grocery stores around the U.S. or you can order it online. A 12-pack costs $44; get a 12-pack of one flavor or a 12-pack containing all three flavors.
