Over/Under Week 2 - Lamar Jackson

After a rough week 1, will the Baltimore QB bounce back against the Chiefs?

Video Transcript

- All right, second over/under. We're going to the Sunday night game, a really good game I think we're all looking forward to. And we're talking about Lamar Jackson here. And, man, this feels like a low number-- 23 and 1/2 fantasy points. I will start us off. And I got to go over. 23 and 1/2 fantasy points used to be like a good half for Lamar, at least a couple of years ago. Obviously a shaky offensive line for that team right now and a banged up receiving corps. I get all those worries.

Here's the thing. Kansas City will give you just whatever you want on the ground. So I figure Lamar comes out, gives us 80, 90 rushing yards. And at that point, I really only need him to get 14 or 15 more fantasy points. I think he can do at least that much. Baker Mayfield just threw for over 300 yards against this team. I think Lamar-- maybe he doesn't get there, but it's a pretty good day through the air as well. So I think he goes comfortably over this total. Matt, what do you say?

- Yeah, Andy, you mentioned that this used to be a good half for Lamar a couple of years ago. Well it ain't a couple of years ago anymore, especially on that offensive line. I am going under. I've got serious concerns about Baltimore after what we saw in week one.

I mean, they're already starting to do the little shuffle thing where Ronnie Stanley is going to miss this game. Ronnie Stanley played in week one, by the way, and Lamar was still sacked on 9% of his drop-backs. Stanley's out. They're moving Villanueva back to the left side, bringing up another starter, a right tackle. This is how seasons start to unravel. This is how things start to get away from you. I'm a little worried that the Ravens are entering that territory.

And yeah, they get to play a team in Kansas City that has had their number the last three times that they've played. So I hate to bet against Lamar. I hate to take unders in general. I mean, that's no fun. But I'm definitely doing it here.

- Tank, you've already talked up Lamar a little bit. Break this tie in Lamar's favor, please.

- Man, I can't lie. Like, the cloud of Minty was hovering, like, over my head so strong. But I got to go with the over, man. Like, I'm telling you, like, that was a tough loss against the Raiders last week. And sometimes you just have to go back to like good old ball. And like, you come off a tough loss, like, people already down on your game. You're going against, like, Patrick Mahomes, who was like the face of the NFL. Like, Lamar has that dog in him.

Like, I understand the offensive line isn't what it used to be. Marquis Brown is banged up. Sammy Watkins is always banged up. They running through a rotation of backs. But this is one of those games where he has to put everyone on his back and will his team to a victory, and if he doesn't win, has to do everything in his power to at least try to come away with a win. I think with that, along with all the stats and the reasons why Andy Behrens told you why he should come over with the over, I'm going with Lamar blowing past this and getting close to 30 points this week.

- Man, Tank and I agreeing a lot on this show, even when we're supposed to disagree. You love to see it. We're going have one more over-under later in the program.
