The 94th Academy Awards are, like always, really all about the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. And this year’s list of nominees and presenters brings an unprecedented level of fashion-forward icons all on the same IRL red carpet — thankfully virtual no more.

Hosts Regina Hall, Wanda Sykes, and Amy Schumer all sashayed down the 2022 Oscars red carpet on Sunday, March 27, along with nominated power couple Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz who are both competing in their respective Best Actor and Best Actress categories.

Fellow Best Actress nominee (and Bardem’s onscreen wife in “Being the Ricardos) Nicole Kidman and her real-life husband Keith Urban continued their reign of red carpet PDA, and first-time nominee Kristen Stewart was in a trendsetter category of all of her own in a stunning ensemble. Oscar nominees Jesse Plemons and Kirsten Dunst put the “Power” in power couple as “The Power of the Dog” spouses are both nominated in their respected Supporting star categories.

The tight race for Best Picture is no match for the title of Best Dressed, as “tick, tick…BOOM!” triple threat Andrew Garfield lit up the carpet in a show-stopping ensemble, with “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (and Best Actor competitor) Benedict Cumberbatch proving the “Power” of the power suit.

Newcomer Rachel Zegler, who starred in Steven Spielberg’s Best Picture-nominated “West Side Story,” walked the carpet after being welcomed as a presenter, following an Instagram post revealing she was originally not invited to the awards ceremony. Zoë Kravitz, Tracee Ellis Ross, and former Oscar winners Daniel Kaluuya, Lupita Nyong’o, Rami Malek, and Yuh-Jung Youn are also had fashion moments ahead of the ceremony.

This year’s unprecedented Oscars ceremony made headlines due to the Academy’s decision to pre-record eight categories including documentary short, film editing, makeup and hairstyling, original score, production design, animated short, live-action short, and sound in an effort to shorten the awards ceremony.

“The Power of the Dog” and “CODA” have a narrow race for Best Picture, with its respective streamers Netflix and AppleTV+ seemingly set to come out on top either way. Film’s biggest night is just getting started, and in the meantime, see the stars revel in the back-to-in-person excitement on the red carpet.

The 94th Academy Awards air live on Sunday, March 27 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on ABC.
