O's grounds crew trolls Twins outfielder for crashing into wall originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

Twins outfielder Rob Refsnyder had himself a memorable afternoon at Camden Yards on Monday.

In the fifth inning of Minnesota’s series opener against the Orioles, Baltimore first baseman Ryan Mountcastle launched a deep flyball to straightaway center field. Refsnyder attempted to track it down but the ball soared past the wall for a solo home run that tied the game. However, the 30-year-old utility man didn’t realize that both he and the baseball had run out of room before he reached the wall.

Refsnyder was a little shaken up after the play but remained in the game. He ultimately got the O’s back, scoring the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th inning to help the Twins win 3-2 and hand Baltimore its 14th straight loss.

The next day, the Orioles’ grounds crew decided to jab him right back.

Alex Werger, a member of the crew, posted the photo of an apparent tape outline that depicted Refsnyder crashing into the center field wall at Camden Yards. He pointed back to the Texas Rangers’ dirt outline of Joey Gallo as inspiration; Gallo’s teammates traced his likeness on the infield after he tripped while running toward second base in May.
