“I would like to thank Coach Tinkle and the coaching staff for giving me the opportunity,” Silver said via a team release. “I also want to thank Beaver Nation for supporting me this past season. It was amazing to be a part of what we accomplished. With that being said, I have made the decision to enter the transfer portal.”

It appears he is seeking a larger role. He played in 23 games, averaging 1.6 points in 7.4 minutes per game.

“Tariq’s a great young man and we appreciate all he did for us this past year,” Tinkle said. “We support his decision to find a school where he can have a major role and wish him all the best.”

Silver transferred to Oregon State last offseason from Tallahassee Community College, where he was named the 17th best player in the nation by 2020 JucoRecruiting.com after averaging 12.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 2019-20.

Jarod Lucas has surmounted himself as a starting guard and lead offensive option for years to come in Corvallis and Ethan Thompson is eligible to return for another season in Corvallis. He has not made a decision yet.
