Wayne Tinkle agrees to contract extension with Beavers originally appeared on NBC Sports Northwest
When you get your team to the Elite 8 for the first time since 1982, there's a good chance you will be rewarded for it.
On Monday, Oregon State did just that with basketball head coach Wayne Tinkle, who agreed to a three-year contract extension with the team.
He will be the coach with the Beavers through the 2027 season.
Tinkle now has a six-year contract with the Beavers. He had two years remaining on his last contract that he signed in 2019.
The financial details of the contract are not listed or known at the moment, but it is expected that the buyout will increase.
Tinkle currently has a $750,000 buyout if he leaves for another job in the next 12 months.
The Beavers completed its most successful season in nearly four decades, where they won 20 games for the first time since the 2011-12 season and won their first-ever Pac-12 tournament.
Tinkle has been showing progress with the Beavers.
During his seven-year run at OSU, Tinkle’s team has finished .500 or better six times in that span.
The Beavers may not have gotten past Houston in the Elite 8, but you can expect the Beavers and Tinkle to have their sights set high heading into next season.
