Oregon moves up to No. 8 in USA TODAY Coaches poll

Thanks to losses from Penn State and Oklahoma State, Oregon moved up two spots to No. 8 in the USA TODAY AFCA Coaches poll.

The Nittany Lions were upset at home by Illinois 20-18 in a record-breaking nine overtimes. As for the Cowboys, they were upended by Iowa State 24-21.

Oregon was able to escape the Rose Bowl with a thrilling 34-31 win over UCLA, keeping their Pac-12 title hopes alive as well as a possibility of sneaking into the College Football Playoff.

The Ducks remain the only Pac-12 team to be ranked. Arizona State received 27 votes and for the first time this season, Oregon State managed to receive some votes, but not nearly enough to crack the Top 25.

Oregon is scheduled to host Colorado Oct. 30 at 12:30 PT televised on FOX.
