Oregon Ducks make top-5 for nation's No. 4 DE Cyrus Moss originally appeared on NBC Sports Northwest
Mario Cristobal and the Oregon Ducks are hard at work securing the 2022 recruiting class.
Cyrus Moss, the nation's No. 4 weakside defensive end by composite ranking and No. 57 player overall, announced his top-five schools which include the Oregon Ducks, as well as Clemson, Notre Dame, Florida and Arizona State.
He eliminated Alabama, Michigan State, USC, Oklahoma, and Penn State from his top-11.
The 6'5", 220-pound prospect holds a four-star rating on 247Sports but he's one of the elite recruits in the country and the top prospect in Nevada.
The Oregonian's Andrew Nemec tweeted Oregon's "likely to be a contender the whole way" to land Moss' commitment following his top-11 reveal in February.
247Sports Mountain Region Recruiting Analyst Blair Angulo projects Moss as a second-round NFL Draft pick and compares him to Anthony Bar, an all-pro linebacker who was drafted seventh overall.
"Long, projectable frame with room to fill out physically. Carries 200 lbs. well and has built to add mass," wrote Angulo in March 2020. "Disruptive edge rusher with a background at safety. Length and tools to be a multi-faceted force at outside linebacker. Does well to set the edge, can rush the passer from a stand-up position, and shows fluidity in coverage. Possesses athleticism to match up in one on one situations, but is at best when charging forward. Could continue to develop pass-rush moves and closing speed. Potential multi-year starter at Power Five level and upside as NFL Draft Day 2 selection."
Angulo has the lone crystal ball prediction for Moss on 247Sports and it does favor Oregon but with a level-two confidence score.
As a sophomore, Moss amassed 48 tackles, 7.0 tackles-for-loss, 3.5 sacks, and 2 pass breakups.
