Oregon RB Sean Dollars suffers 'significant leg injury,' will return sometime in season originally appeared on NBC Sports Northwest

Tough news to begin spring football for Ducks fans.

Redshirt freshman running back Sean Dollars has suffered an injury Mario Cristobal described as “significant” in his first media session of spring football.

"The new injury that we had during workouts, during team workouts was Sean Dollars," Cristobal said Thursday. "He had a pretty significant leg injury."

Cristobal said the nation’s No. 2 all-purpose back in 2019 will "be out for the summer." He added that the team is "expecting him back during the season at some point."

This is a tough blow for a player expected to break out and take on a larger workload this season.

In the Pac-12 Championship, Dollars had a career-high seven carries and 52 yards rushing."We knew it was going to happen," said Mario Cristobal after winning the conference for the second consecutive season.

"His future is through the roof. I mean, there's no ceiling on him."

Despite both CJ Verdell and Travis Dye returning, Dollars was expected to see a significant run at points replacing Cyrus Habibi-Likio who transferred to Boise State.

On Thursday, Cristobal added that Chris Randazzo, Jonah Tauanu’u, and Sampson Niu have also medically retired.
