KRYSTEN PEEK: I'm Krysten Peek, here with Chris Livingston, a five-star from Oak Hill heading to Kentucky next year. We're at the Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Chris, you guys just went 2 an 0 here. Big game, this game. I think you finished with 19 and 15-- 19 points, 15 rebounds-- in front of Coach Cal. How did it feel playing so well on the court to close out the tournament?

CHRIS LIVINGSTON: Oh, it felt great being able to go 2 and 0 against teams that were ranked above us this weekend. So it felt good. And it felt good seeing Coach Cal, you know what I'm saying? Got to see him in person again. Got to see him on my game.

So having that type of game in front of him actually meant a lot. It was a good feeling and a good experience.

KRYSTEN PEEK: What sort of feedback do you get from him after he's seen you in person, especially when you have a game like this?

CHRIS LIVINGSTON: I haven't talked to him yet, but I'm pretty sure he's gonna be excited. Coach Cal is such a down-to-earth guy. He's gonna be cool about it. It's gonna be fun talking to him, so good to see him.

KRYSTEN PEEK: What was the conversations like when you first met him and the coaching staff? And how were they saying that you were going to come into Kentucky and make an impact next year?

CHRIS LIVINGSTON: I like the staff a lot. Coach always the chill, laid-back kind of guy. Coach Cal is charismatic. Coach Chin-- that's my guy. I can talk to him about anything. So I really like those three, along with other people on the coaching staff.

But they showed me film about my game, where I would fit in on the court. Keldon Johnson, Kevin Knox, people like Devin Booker are people that they showed me. So I feel as though we have a really good idea about how I'll be playing next year. I really like the staff. I really get along with them well.

KRYSTEN PEEK: What was the reaction when you finally committed to Kentucky? What did they say to you?

CHRIS LIVINGSTON: Man, Coach Chin actually ran outside and started yelling, let's go. Coach Cal-- he's super excited. But they were at a restaurant, so I'm glad I got to brighten their day with the news. My mom-- she was super excited. She started crying, actually, so it was a good experience.

KRYSTEN PEEK: So you're heading there next year with Shaedon Sharpe, who's already at campus, Cason Wallace, and Skyy Clark. Skyy is here, and I know you've known him for a while. What's the conversation been like between the two of you and what you're gonna do next year?

CHRIS LIVINGSTON: We haven't really talked much about next year, but we've been talking amongst each other about things. We've been friends for a while. I've known Skyy for a while, so that relationship's always gonna be there. Skyy's a chill, laid-back dude, easy to get along with. He's a good kid.

Same for Shaedon. Same for Cason Wallace, from what I know of. So we haven't really talked about much next year, but I'm pretty sure we're gonna gel and get along.

KRYSTEN PEEK: You are so strong. You have such a physical presence on the court. What NBA players do you watch a lot of, and who do you try to emulate your game after?

CHRIS LIVINGSTON: I watch a lot of Paul George. I watch a lot of LeBron. Of course, he's the GOAT. I watch a lot of Jaylen Brown. Jaylen Brown is who people really say I play like. Him and Paul George is names they throw out. So those are three people.

Oh, and Ja Morant. Besides LeBron, he's probably the most person I love to watch. He's just so electric. I love watching him.

KRYSTEN PEEK: You've got two teammates on Oak Hill right now that are committed to Duke. Has there been some friendly banter between you and Caleb and Christian?

CHRIS LIVINGSTON: Yeah, we always joke all the time. They always bring up Duke beating Kentucky at the beginning of the year every time I say something. But definitely. We talk about our recruiting class, where we're ranked at, things like that, what we're gonna do to each other next year. So that's definitely there, yeah.

KRYSTEN PEEK: All right, Chris. Thank you so much for the update. For more information on Chris Livingston, keep it right here on
