'One of the most special moments of my career' - Docherty

Nicola Docherty says lifting the SWPL Cup as Rangers captain is "one of the most special moments" in her career.

The Scotland international has won numerous titles with both Glasgow City and Rangers, but she expressed her pride after Jo Potter's side beat Partick Thistle at Tynecastle to retain the SWPL Cup.

"I am absolutely buzzing," Docherty said. "We work so hard throughout the week for moments like this and we are all delighted.

"That winning mentality to make sure we can see games out that Jo has brought in, we did that today. I don't want to give Jo too much credit because we work hard as well but there is a real togetherness within the squad that she has brought in.

"Football can be a short career and I have told the players that winning is everything. Rangers is a club built on winning trophies and I am so proud of every single player.

"It has got to be up there with one of the most special moments of my career. To lift the trophy as the captain of Rangers, I have been a fan since I was a kid so to do that alongside this group is phenomenal.

"I am unbelievably proud of the numbers that came out today [to support the team]. They are the ones that really spur us on and we are so thankful."
