McDonald’s customers stunned by restaurant’s one-of-a-kind feature: ‘Who knew about this?’

TikTok’s hottest new vacation spot is … McDonald’s?

Well, not just any McDonald’s. One location, in Sedona, Ariz., is going viral on the social media app — for a very specific reason.

At this restaurant, the chain’s famous golden arches are actually blue.

The Sedona McDonald’s has gone viral several times over the past few years, although TikTokers seem to have just recently taken notice. One video, uploaded by a user named Megan Homme, has drawn more than 800,000 views.

“Who knew about this about this?” Homme captioned her clip.

The video seems to be following a trend. Surprisingly, four of the app’s top six videos using the hashtag “Sedona” feature the McDonald’s. That’s despite the fact that the town is a popular tourist hub that literally calls itself “the most beautiful place on earth.”

So, why are the arches blue? Apparently, it has a lot to do with that whole “most beautiful place” thing.

According to Business Insider, Sedona’s city government has restrictions on buildings that may clash with the red-orange hue of its iconic rock formations. The bright yellow McDonald’s arches, it seemed, were too rock-colored to make the cut.

It’s unclear if the fast food chain was forced to change its colors, or if the blue arches were simply a compromise. Either way, the decision has had people talking since 1993, when the location was first constructed.

Homme’s video amazed plenty of TikTokers, who said they had no idea about the “one-of-a-kind” location. Others, meanwhile, shared their own stories of rule-breaking McDonald’s stores.

For example, the BBC reported that a McDonald’s in Monterey, Calif., actually has black arches. At a restaurant in Paris, the arches are white.

It may not be the exact same concept, but there’s also a McDonald’s in Roswell, N.M., that’s shaped exactly like a UFO.
