One dead in car crash on US 33 on Southeast Side

One person died Thursday afternoon after a multiple vehicle crash on U.S. 33 at South Hamilton Road on the Southeast Side Thursday afternoon.

At least two vehicles were involved in the crash, and one car flipped over and caught fire, according to Columbus police.

Police started receiving calls about the crash at about 4:45 p.m.

One person was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in life-threatening condition and was pronounced dead at 5:33 p.m. Another person was transported to Mount Carmel East in stable condition.

U.S. 33 at South Hamilton Road is closed as police continue to investigate.
