Corey Robinson breaks down just how good Onyeka Okongwu has been over the last three weeks as he continues to fill in admirably for the Atlanta Hawks in place of Clint Capela.
COREY ROBINSON: With starting center Clint Capela sidelined by a calf injury, Hawks third-year big man Onyeka Okongwu has been asked to fill the void. In his last nine starts, Okongwu is averaging 11.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.1 steals, and 2.2 blocks, shooting 60.3% from the field. Rostered in 70% of Yahoo leagues, he's been a top 30 player in 9-cat formats over the last three weeks.
And his performance in a January 13 win over the Pacers is one of his best of his career. Okongwu scored 18 points on nine of 12 shooting, while also tallying a career-high 20 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and four blocked shots in 39 minutes on the floor. With Capela not having a clear timeline for return, fantasy managers who have Okongwu rostered should be thrilled to continue to roll with it.
