Oklahoma Sooners stay steady at No.4 in AP Top 25 after the bye week

·2 min read

While other schools directly in front and directly behind Oklahoma played in some true dog fights, Oklahoma rested and enjoyed their bye week as a little bit of chaos unfolded. Following the aftermath, the Associated Press has released the newest iteration of its Top 25 poll to reflect Saturday’s results.

As it stands Georgia remains as the top dog in the country after they dispatched Missouri fairly easily. Cincinnati remains at No. 2 after a scrappy win at home vs. Tulsa while Alabama remains at three after they eked out a home win against the LSU Tigers.

The Sooners are firmly at number four despite not playing this weekend. The AP Top 25 reflects the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll.

They return to action on the road against Baylor, who lost a tough game to the now Gary Patterson-less TCU Horned Frogs. Baylor’s loss dropped them to No. 18 in the AP Poll this week.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the Big 12, Oklahoma State remained undefeated after traveling to Morgantown and taking on the West Virginia Mountaineers. Due to a loss by Wake Forest, the Cowboys rose one spot to No. 10. As long as these two Oklahoma schools keep winning, we may be on a crash course for a top-five or seven Bedlam matchup to determine who finishes first in the regular season.

Directly behind the Sooners, the Oregon Ducks moved up a few spots after winning a rock fight of a rivalry game against the University of Washington.

The Sooners will gladly take the bit of chaos that transpired as it also means they will likely see a jump up in the College Football Playoff rankings that will be updated on Tuesday evening. Regardless, the Sooners can only take care of things in front of them as their next opponent in the Baylor Bears. Baylor will be eager to get rid of the taste of defeat. That game will kick off at noon eastern time next Saturday as part of Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff.
