Oklahoma QB Caleb Williams enters transfer portal

The shockwaves keep hitting the Oklahoma football program.

First, it was Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley leaving for USC.

And on the first Monday of the New Year, star quarterback Caleb Williams announced he is entering the transfer portal.

Williams came on during the season, replacing preseason Heisman favorite Spencer Rattler at quarterback.

Williams immediately flourished.

The Sooners finished 11-2, concluding the season with a 47-32 victory over Oregon in the Alamo Bowl.

In that game, Williams threw for 247 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also rushed for 34 yards.

Overall, the freshman from Washington, D.C., threw for 1,912 yards with 21 TD passes against 4 picks.

He also rushed for 442 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Williams said remaining at Oklahoma is an option. Sooner Nation has to hope he stays in Norman, as does new coach Brent Venables.

Rattler, the QB replaced by Williams, has already announced his plan to transfer to South Carolina.
