The NBA announced that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has won Player of the Week for the Western Conference on Monday for the week of Dec. 20 to Dec. 26.

In four games, Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 27.5 points, seven assists and 6.3 rebounds as the Thunder went 3-1. This is the 23-year-old’s first career Player of the Week award and is the fifth player in Thunder history to win it — the other four being Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Paul George and Dennis Schroder

The last Thunder player to win Player of the Week was Schroder, who won it in December 2019.

This is exciting news to hear and is great to see that Gilgeous-Alexander’s week of productive scoring and playmaking is being recognized by the league. The fourth-year guard joins elite Thunder company with Durant, Westbrook and George.

The Eastern Conference Player of the Week was awarded to New York Knicks’ guard Kemba Walker — who the Thunder previously acquired in the Al Horford trade this past offseason before being released by the franchise.
