Ohio State is one of eight teams left on 2024 Texas defensive end’s list
There aren’t many states that produce college prospects like Texas does, and Ohio State has taken advantage of that.
Multiple Texans are on the current Buckeye roster. In the 2024 recruiting class, linebacker Payton Pierce and running back James Peoples have already committed from the state.
More could be on the way as well, such as defensive end Nigel Smith. On Monday, the 6-foot, 5-inch, 260-pound defender announced his top eight schools and the Buckeyes made the cut.

Smith is viewed as one of the best recruits in the country. The 247Sports composite has him as the 73rd overall player and 10th best defensive end. He holds offers from virtually every powerhouse program in the nation.

Smith has been to Columbus multiple times and reports have him making an official visit as well. Ohio State could very well be adding another talented Texan to its roster in the near future.
