Ohio State and Michigan State will play under the lights on Nov. 11

Part of the Ohio State football schedule was released on Monday. One game was as expected. Another came as a surprise. The Game against TTUN will take place at noon ET as has been the case for the past 16 years. The second game time announced was a prime-time game against Michigan State.

The move is a little shocking considering Michigan plays Penn State in Happy Valley on the same day. As much as Buckeye fans want to see more night games in Ohio Stadium, this makes more sense if the games were switched.

With a new Big Ten TV contract and Fox convinced the marquee time slot is noon, the network took the Wolverines and Nittany Lions for their “Big Noon Kickoff.” That left newly contracted NBC to find the next best game for the nightcap. Ohio State will always be in that discussion and draw huge ratings no matter who the opponent is.

An offer for Buckeyes fans

As an Ohio State fan, it would’ve been nice to see Michigan have to go into Beaver Stadium for a night game and what most likely would’ve been whiteout conditions. Even so, it’s still always fun to see the Buckeyes play under the lights. We’ll have to wait and see if there will be any other games that make it to prime time.
