Ohio State football adds 2024 OL commits Deonate and Devontae Armstrong

Ohio State secured two more offensive linemen in the 2024 class

Deontae Armstrong and Devontae Armstrong, twin offensive lineman out of St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio, announced they would join the Buckeyes' 2024 recruiting class over Michigan, Penn State and Georgia.

The Armstrong twins join New Palestine, Indiana four-star offensive lineman Ian Moore and Ohio three-star lineman Marc Nave in the class.

According to 247Sports, Devontae Armstrong is the No. 23 interior offensive lineman in the 2024 class, while Deontae Armstrong is ranked as the No. 25 offensive tackle in the class.

“From freshman year until now, they step it up every day,” St. Edward offensive line coach Dan Scanlon said. “Even when we are working with them on their technique, they are really focused, which is great to see. Because you not only have size, talent, but when you have the focus and work ethic … it makes me know I can keep pushing them and pushing them and they will do it.”

And while he admitted both brothers still have work to do, St. Edward head football coach Tom Lombardo said that's the beauty of the Armstrong brothers.

“If they keep improving on the trajectory they are (on),” Lombardo said, “there (are) NFL capabilities.”

Deontae Armstrong told the Dispatch in February he never thought him and his twin brother were a package deal.

“A lot of people ask are we a package deal? The answer isn’t no, and it’s not yes,” Deontae said. “We just happen to share the same ideals, so it’s very possible, but … I wouldn't go somewhere just because he’s going there.”

To the Armstrongs' mother Erica Kara, she knew they were not going to leave each other.

“Oh, they’re not leaving each other,” she said. “That’s 100%. I can say that. They’re not leaving each other. They have never left each other’s side. … They don’t leave each other. They can say it all they want, but they’re not going to. As a mother, I know. I can tell you that 100%.”
