Ohio college football recruiting | Hoban's William Satterwhite maps out unofficial visits

A high school student’s social calendar can get pretty full right around now.

The weather starts finally warms up. Spring break is around the corner and dreams of summer start to creep in.

No one might be busier than William Satterwhite these days, as his day planner looks more like a road map to the best college football programs in the country.

The Hoban offensive guard already counts 26 offers and has interest from some of the biggest schools in the country.

Here’s a look at what’s going down in the next month and what could come down the line for the four-star 6-foot-9, 290-pound junior.

What college football programs have offered Hoban lineman William Satterwhite?

Everybody.

Well, not yet anyway, but it’s getting there.

The list includes Alabama, Appalachian State, Auburn, Cincinnati, Colorado, Duke, Eastern Kentucky, Iowa State, Kent State, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Miami (Ohio), Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Penn State, Pitt, Purdue, Rutgers, Tennessee, Toledo, Tulsa, Wake Forest and Wisconsin.

That's what happens when you help teammate Lamar Sperling rush for 3,867 yards and score 59 touchdowns en route to the Mr. Football award last season.

Don’t worry Ohio State fans, the Buckeyes have shown interest as have Georgia, Clemson and Northwestern, with Georgia and Clemson wanting to see Satterwhite before they offer him.

What Hoban offensive lineman William Satterwhite’s schedule looks like?

Satterwhite visited Michigan State last Saturday and was at Michigan on Sunday to take in practices.

He’ll head to Tennessee this Saturday with unofficial visits to Cincinnati (March 31), Louisville (April 1), Auburn (April 8), Alabama (April 10), Georgia (April 11), Clemson (April 12) and Penn State (April 14) following that.

“I’m just looking logistics and the non-cherry coated stuff,” Satterwhite said. “It’s just the basics of it. I’m used to all of this now.”

That’s the biggest piece of all of this.

Satterwhite has sat down with Hoban coach Tim Tyrrell and the rest of his coaching staff to map out just what he wants so it doesn't get overwhelming.

What does Hoban's William Satterwhite want in a college?

It goes well beyond football.

With a 4.15 grade point average, finding a school strong in civil or chemical engineering remains as much a focal point as does the football.

Scholarships will take care of themselves. What he wants to know almost as much is what will happen outside of the game.

“The way he has been handling recruiting there won’t be as much pressure as there would be for other people,” Tyrrell said. “He’s been very educated on it. He’s been listening to us and the college coaches. He has specific things he wants to do in college. It’s not a situation where he’s going and seeing everything. He wants a school with great engineering and then he’ll go from there and narrow it down.”

What does the timeline look like for Hoban’s William Satterwhite?

Satterwhite doesn’t know which ID camps he wants to go to in May and June, but did say that he’d like to get to a showcase camp in the spring.

Tyrrell said some official visits will come as soon as they’re allowed under NCAA rules.

Satterwhite indicated he wants to make a decision around August.

“We’ve had numerous conversations with him and his mom,” Tyrrell said. “They’re as educated as they can get.”
