UCF and Memphis will indeed play this season, just a couple weeks after the originally scheduled date. The two schools in conjunction with the American Athletic Conference announced they'd play a makeup game in Orlando on Sept. 30.
To accommodate the move, UCF will no longer host Maine while Memphis is canceling a trip to Georgia State.
"We owe a huge thank you to Karlton Creech and Joe Harasymiak at Maine for their helpfulness and understanding with this situation," UCF AD Danny White said in a release. "Of course, this wouldn't have happened without great input and assistance from Mike Aresco, Scott Draper and others in our conference office. Tom Bowen and Mike Norvell also deserve a thank you from us for being open to making this game happen."
From UCF's press release:
Season-ticket holders with a season ticket card will not be affected. Those with tickets in Roth Tower suites, Field Cabanas or the Roth Tower club should use tickets dated Sept. 30. All parking passes for the rescheduled Memphis game will utilize parking passes dated Sept. 30. Single-game tickets for the originally-scheduled Sept. 8/9 Memphis game will need to be exchanged for a Sept. 30 ticket. For all other ticket-related questions, please call (407) 823-1000 when normal operations resume on campus at 9 a.m. Friday or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
UCF is also working to schedule another game during the current bye week of Oct. 28. The opponent likely would come from the FCS ranks.
