The New York Giants will be without one of their best players against one of their biggest rivals. Star wideout Odell Beckham Jr. was ruled out of the team’s game against the Washington Redskins in Week 14 due to a quadriceps injury.

Beckham popped up on the injury report Friday with the issue. He was limited in practice, but was expected to play against Washington. The 26-year-old was re-evaluated Saturday, and it was determined he would not play.

The Giants were already facing a tough road to the postseason with Beckham. At 4-8, the team would have to win out and get some help in order to appear in the playoffs. Despite the long odds, Beckham tried to motivate the team, saying he wanted the Giants to play spoiler down the stretch.

Without Beckham, the Giants’ pursuit of the postseason gets exponentially more difficult. The star wide receiver has been one of the few bright spots on a struggling Giants offense. In 12 games, Beckham has caught 77 balls for 1,052 yards and six touchdowns.
