By now you may have heard that the Capitals have won the Stanley Cup. Even if you're not a sports fan you probably still know because you ran into the Caps during their endless celebration throughout the DMV area.

Winning the Stanley Cup for the first time in franchise history means that the Caps will be the defending Cup champions for the first time in the 2018-19 season. So how likely are they to do it again? Well, the oddsmakers have some thoughts on that.

The gambling site Bovada has already released its Stanley Cup odds for next season, setting the chances for a Caps repeat at 14/1 behind seven other teams. The oddsmakers put Tampa Bay as the favorites at 9/1.

Notice that the longshot Vegas Golden Knights, who no one expected to even make the playoffs this year, now stand at 10/1 to win the Cup, better odds than the Caps.

Based on how the last postseason went, you may be disappointed the Caps are not more of a long shot to repeat. They always seemed to be at their most dangerous whenever people counted them out.
