Kicker Sebastian Janikowski retires after 19 seasons in NFL
After nearly two decades in the league, Sebastian Janikowski is calling it a career.
Janikowski officially retired from the NFL on Sunday after 19 seasons, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Sebastian Janikowski told ESPN that, after 19 seasons, he is retiring from NFL at the age of 41: “It was a good run. I still think of the Super Bowl - it still hurts.” He plans to turn into a cab driver, taking his 3 girls to school. Seabass made more $ than any K in NFL history.

“It was a good run,” Janikowski told ESPN. “I still think of the Super Bowl — it still hurts.”
Janikowski was selected with the No. 17 overall pick by the Oakland Raiders in the 2000 NFL draft — making him the highest-drafted kicker since 2000. He played for the Raiders for all but one of his seasons in the league, and made more than 80 percent of his field-goal attempts and 98.5 percent of his extra-point attempts throughout his career. He compiled 1,913 career points.
The 41-year-old was also the longest-tenured Raiders player in team history before he signed with the Seattle Seahawks in 2018. Janikowski retired with more than $53 million in career earnings, the most among any kicker in NFL history.
With Janikowski out of the league, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is now the only remaining player left in the NFL from the 2000 draft.
