Veteran shooting guard Evan Fournier was already breaking records in his Boston Celtics debut — but not the sort you’d want to be setting, unfortunately.

While his rough-shooting night absolutely shouldn’t be taken as an example of what the accomplished wing can do on a basketball court, Fournier evidently came down with an epic case of the yips at the worst possible moment, going 0-for-10 from the field in his inaugural game as a Celtic. Having played 33 minutes of game time, the Frenchman logged the most minutes without scoring by a Boston player with at least 10 field goal attempts since the start of the 3-point era in 1980, according to Statmuse.

ESPN’s Tim Bontemps relayed word from Elias Sports Bureau that Fournier was just the fourth player in the shot clock era to shoot 0 – 10 or worse in their first game with a new team.

They add he was the first since Antawn Jamison went 0 - 12 with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2010, with the other two being Corey Blount in 2001 and Kevin McKenna in 1983, who both went 0 - 10. All three players would go on to have successful stints with their new teams -- Jamison especially so -- which suggests, as does common sense does, that this was just a night of terribly bad luck for the new Celtic. https://twitter.com/TimBontemps/status/1376721815196864516

"It's difficult coming to a new team, trying to play well, trying to remember the plays and new system," observed new teammate Kemba Walker after the game. "At the end of the day, c'mon now -- we all know how good Evan is," he added. We don't disagree. https://embed.sendtonews.com/oembed/?SC=wFbISQ7hq1-1223320-8380&autoplay=on&V=2&format=json [lawrence-related id=48471,48460,48457,48455] [listicle id=48437]
