We now know what awaits the KC Chiefs next round ... but only if they beat Buffalo

The AFC’s path to the Super Bowl once again winds through Kansas City.

If the Chiefs can hold serve, that is.

The Bengals upset the top-seeded Titans in the second round of the playoffs on Saturday, 19-16 on a game-winning field goal as time expired, which leaves the Chiefs as the highest seed remaining in the AFC field.

The Chiefs face the Bills at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the Divisional round of the playoffs, trying to reach their fourth consecutive AFC Championship Game.

All at home.

If the Chiefs beat the Bills, they will stay at Arrowhead Stadium next weekend against the Bengals. The Bills would also hold homefield advantage with a win.

But first things first. The Chiefs must beat a Buffalo team that already beat them once in Week 5. The Chiefs insist they’re a drastically different team — both offensively and defensively — since that first matchup.

A similar theme would await next week.

The Bengals defeated the Chiefs 34-31 in Week 17, erasing an early 14-point deficit. Joe Burrow threw for 446 yards and four touchdowns in that game, but his top target stole the show. Ja’Marr Chase caught 11 passes for 266 yards and three touchdowns.
