Notre Dame crushes Boston College in New Year’s Day matinee

SOUTH BEND — Notre Dame is on a mission in 2023, so it only made sense to start the New Year off right. A decent-sized crowd came out to Purcell Pavilion to see what the Irish could do against a talented Boston College team. What they did was run the Eagles out of the building. This one never was in doubt as the Irish won, 85-48.

The Irish (12-1, 3-0) led wire-to-wire and proved that the talent the Eagles (11-5, 1-2) have just can’t compete with their depth and well-oiled machine. They outhustled, outdefended and outplayed the Eagles throughout. Even the stats showed dominance as the Irish enjoyed sizable leads in points in the paint (56-36), fast-break points (19-9), bench scoring (36-9) and steals (15-8). The Eagles had a decent third quarter with a 19-12 scoring advantage, but other than that, they weren’t able to do much.

KK Bransford came off the bench to set a new scoring high for her freshman year with 17 points. olivia miles was terrific all-around, also scoring 17 to go with six rebounds and five assists. sonia citron had a similar line of 15 points, six rebounds and four assists. Cassandre Prosper also made an impact in her home debut, scoring seven points and grabbing a game-high nine boards.
