Noah Syndergaard made his highly anticipated return to the mound on Tuesday night, and now we know when he’ll make his next and final appearance of the season.

Manager Luis Rojas explained on Wednesday afternoon that Syndergaard will open for the Mets either on Friday or Saturday, and he’ll once again go one inning in front of either Tylor Megill (Friday) or Carlos Carrasco (Saturday) in Atlanta.

“Today he was really animated, really positive,” Rojas said of Syndergaard. “So, we’ll see this weekend. Potentially Friday or Saturday we may see him again. It won’t have to be a five-day thing. He was doing a three-day thing so he could go again. It’s going to be one inning, but those were the talks that we had, and he came in today and said he feels fine.”

Following a long road back from March 2020 Tommy John surgery, Syndergaard started the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader with the Miami Marlins, throwing one perfect inning while striking out two on just 10 pitches.

After the game, he discussed his emotions upon taking the Citi Field mound once again, and also said he was "fairly confident" he and the Mets can come to a contract agreement for next season.
