El Kanemi Warriors are not leaving any stone unturned in their quest to start the 2017-18 Nigeria Professional Football League season on a good note as they plan to unleash their three foreign signings on Rivers United.
The Borno Army will be facing Stanley Eguma's charges at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium and goalkeeping coach Shuaibu Suleiman reveals that the Ghana duo of Anthony Yeful and Sulley Mohammed, and Togolese Desousa Anthonio were among the 18 players that travelled with them for their league opener in Port Harcourt.
“We have prepared a team that we that can compete and prove everybody wrong in Port Harcourt on Sunday. We have had long pre-season activities and I am certain that we are going to give a good account of ourselves,” Suleiman told Goal.
“We have selected 18 players that we are sure will do the club proud in Port Harcourt. Among them are three players whom we recruited from Ghana and Togo and they have promised to give their best.
“We have travelled this long and we won’t like to return back empty handed. The management have done their best to provide most of what we require for us and it is left for us to show them that we are grateful for all the gesture.”
He disclosed that with the absence of Imama Amapakabo [away in Morocco with the CHAN Eagles], the remaining coaches led by Ernest Ezeru vows to work in unison to ensure that they realize their objective.
“We won’t allow the absence of coach Imama to affect us in any way. We are determined to ensure that we carry on in his absence. We want him to come back and meet us well placed on the league table," he continued.
“He has prepared the team before the national team assignment took him away from us. Whatever we do in the club we do it for him as a way of appreciating his sacrifice for the team."
In tandem with Ezeru, Suleiman, Babagana Mohammed and Bamai Bukar are make up the coaching crew.
