No. 3 CU women’s basketball looking to hand No. 25 Oregon State first home loss

In a battle of top-25 college women’s basketball teams, the No. 3 Colorado Buffaloes are looking to hand No. 25 Oregon State its first home loss of the 2023-24 season on Friday night.

Star point guard Jaylyn Sherrod and the Buffs are 16-2 overall and 6-1 to begin Pac-12 play — tied with Stanford for the best mark in the conference. The Beavers, meanwhile, sit 15-3 overall (4-3 Pac-12) and are a perfect 12-0 at Gill Coliseum.

Colorado is an impressive 4-2 against ranked teams this year while Oregon State is 0-3 against top-25 foes. However, the Buffs haven’t beaten a ranked conference opponent on the road since 2004, per BuffZone’s Brian Howell.

One of the Buffaloes’ biggest challenges on Friday will be slowing down Oregon State’s Raegan Beers, a forward from Littleton, Colorado who’s averaging 19.4 points and 11.6 rebounds per game.

Entering Friday, four CU players are averaging over 10 points per contest: Aaronette Vonleh (14.4), Sherrod (14.2), Frida Formann (13.3) and Quay Miller (10.6).

Tipoff at Gill Coliseum is set for 8 p.m. MT on the Pac-12 Network.
