No. 2 Mountain Ridge girls dominate Northern, 54-12, Blair County defeats Calvary

Jan. 30—ACCIDENT — No. 2 Mountain Ridge scored 25 points in the first quarter and pitched a shutout in the second in a 54-12 thrashing of Northern on Monday night.

The Miners (13-3) led 25-6 after the first quarter and held Northern (8-6) without a point in the second to push their advantage to 40-6 at the half.

Mountain Ridge took its foot off the gas after halftime but still outscored Northern, 14-6.

Sydney Snyder sunk four 3-pointers as part of her 16 points. Last year's Area Player of the Year has made at least one 3-pointer in all 16 games this year and has an area-best 45 this season.

Taylor Lamberson hit two 3s of her own and scored 13 points, and Reghan Sivic made five field goals for 10 points. Kealana Pua'auli added nine.

Abby Nelson topped Northern with five points.

Mountain Ridge hosts Chestnut Ridge on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Northern is at Hancock on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Blair County 39, Calvary 33CRESAPTOWN — Gabriella Duli scored 15 points in the second half, leading Blair County to a six-point win over host Calvary on Monday.

Duli scored 11 of Blair County's 12 points in the fourth quarter. She finished with 18 points.

Bethany Carrington scored a game-high 25 points including 14 in the first half for the Eagles (6-9).

Carrington scored 10 points in the first quarter.

Calvary led 16-6 after one quarter and 20-15 at halftime. Blair County outscored Calvary 24-13 in the second half.

The Eagles hosted Shalom on Tuesday.
