No. 14 Cumberlands women get past Phoenix with big 4th qtr.

Jan. 20—WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — No. 14 Cumberlands pulled away in the fourth quarter to get a 75-63 win over Cumberland's women on Thursday night.

Cumberland (7-9, 0-3 Mid-South Conference) drops its fourth straight contest and third in a row against a team in the top 25. The Phoenix kept within two possessions most of the game before the Patriots used a run in the second quarter to get up by double figures.

Cumberland shot 38.6% from the field and did not hit a 3 in the contest. Kayla Gordon scored 20-plus points for the fourth consecutive game with a game-high 24 points. Lindsey Freeman finished with eight points before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Jana Claire Swafford posted nine points and two boards. Faith Colston added five and Myajae Eubanks had four each.
