NBCS NW Staff

The No. 11 Oregon men's basketball team fell for the second time in as many days in nail-biting fashion as the No. 6 North Carolina held on to win the consolation final 78-74 in the Battle 4 Atlantis.

Down 10 with 5:12 left in the game, the Ducks went on a 9-0 run to bring it within one point with 1:29 remaining. In the end, the The Tar Heels secured by executing from the free throw line.

"I liked our effort," head coach Dana Altman said postgame. "It really hurts when you lose a couple games to couple good teams and you really don't do the things that are under your control."

Will Richardson scored a season-high 17 points in the contest, one off his career high. Chris Duarte matched his career high with 16 points. Payton Pritchard added 19 points

North Carolina was the fourth Top 25 opponent the Ducks have faced in eight games this season. It is the first time in program history that the Ducks have played four ranked teams in the non-conference portion of the schedule.

The combined point difference of Oregon's three games in the Battle 4 Atlantis – all of which were against Top-15 opponents – was three points.

Oregon returns home to host Hawaii on Dec. 7.
