Detroit Pistons rookie Cade Cunningham has been reportedly placed into the NBA’s health and safety protocols, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Cunningham is the only player on the roster currently in the health and safety protocols as the Pistons have avoided any issues regarding the coronavirus. The Pistons played the New York Knicks on Tuesday, who have seven players currently in the health and safety protocols.

Players and coaches entered into the health and safety protocols are required to miss a minimum of 10 days in isolation. However, they can be cleared to play sooner if they return two consecutive negative PCR tests taken at least 24 hours apart.

Cunningham is averaging 15.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.4 steals in 25 games this season. He became the eighth-youngest player ever to record a triple-double this season, and was the youngest in Pistons franchise history.

He is second among all rookie players in scoring and assists.

The NBA is in the midst of its most trying stretch of the season as players and teams alike battle ongoing issues surrounding the coronavirus pandemic. During the month of December, more than 100 players have been entered the health and safety protocol.
