NMS relay team places 19th at junior high state meet

May 16—HILLIARD — The Norwalk Middle School boys 4x400-meter relay broke a record set just one week ago at the best possible time on Saturday.

The quartet of Aiden Reeder, Antwaine Porter Elliot Gahring and Casey Kromer turned in a time of 3:52.71, which was good for 19th overall at the OHSAA seventh and eighth grade track and field state championships at Hilliard Darby High School.

At the SBC Lake Division championships on May 8 in Port Clinton, the team was clocked with a program record time of 3:54.39. But on Saturday at state, they took another two seconds off that time.

The state meet takes the top 24 times for the event, and there are no divisions based on size. Porter and Reeder are eighth-graders at NMS, while Gahring and Kromer are in the seventh grade.
