"BATUMSHAKALAKA."

If you know the catchphrase, you were likely a fan of the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2010s and a fanatic of swingman Nicolas Batum.

Rip City was treated to a special message during the Trail Blazers 121-105 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night. The French forward shared some of his favorite memories in a Trail Blazers uniform and talked about why Portland will always have a special place in his heart.

This fan base is incredible. They'll be supporting you, whatever happens. Wins or losses, they'll be behind you, pushing you, sort of make sure you give 100 percent in a game. The crowd's going to be sold out every game so I had great memories with them.

We had a great season, we got some bad seasons, but they were the same every time, pushing us. And that's why I love them. I miss them.

Batum was a fixture in Portland's starting lineup from 2008 to 2015. He was traded to Charlotte in exchange for Gerald Henderson's expiring deal and second-year player Noah Vonleh in 2015.

In Portland, Batum averaged 11.2 points per game, 4.9 rebounds per game and 2.5 assists per game.

The Trail Blazers fan favorite may be gone, but he'll always be remembered as a do-everything-esque player. Despite lacking superstar accolades, Batum was a behind-the-scenes contributor, letting Portland's stars thrive.
